What is the TwoDesk Mini Palette?

The TwoDesk Mini Palette is a plugin for Delphi 2007 that combines the old Delphi 7-style component palette with the new Delphi 2007 tool palette.

How does it work?

The TwoDesk Mini Palette adds a button to the Delphi 2007 tool palette that, when clicked, displays an old-style mini tool palette in a popup window. Selecting a component in the Mini Palette selects the component in the new palette.

What good is that?

The new tool palette in Delphi 2007 has excellent new features, and we believe is generally superior to the old palette. The new palette includes component name filtering, better context awareness, and some great new keyboard shortcuts.

At the same time, the new palette does not present as much information in a small space as the old one, and the new features are heavily reliant on the keyboard, while designing a form is a heavily mouse-based activity. Sometimes, the old-style palette with its tabs and buttons is exactly what you need.

The TwoDesk Mini Palette combines the two palette styles by adding easy access to an old-style palette right into the new palette. When you need keyboard filtering and other new palette features, you still have them, but when you want to see your entire component palette at once as with Delphi 7, the Mini Palette is just one click away.
